After giving FM22 my first initial playthrough, it was time to get down to tactical business. What is the best tactic in Football Manager 2022? It’s only in the alpha stage right now, but we were able to cook up a simple plan with the limited time we had available. What if we took every preset tactic in FM22 and ran them in the exact same match to find which produced the best results. Why then, we would have the BEST preset tactic to start your save within the new FM.

I always find the tactical adjustment to a new FM interesting. In all the feature announcements, it is easy to lose the fact that the tactics will have to be changed. It rarely is the focus of those fancy SI feature announcements in the first place, but reacting to all the other changes requires a supple mind. FM is a great example of the butterfly effect, how one change can change everything, so the tactics are very reactionary. It’s time to find out which tactic has reacted the best - before the game even comes out.
