Vladimir Latunov had a tough task on his hands at HNK Rijeka as he sought to try and topple Dinamo from their perch at the top of Croatian football. To do so, he splashed out on some relatively big-name transfers in the summer of 2028, which saw the likes of Kingsley Coman, Antonio Marin and his former Plzen star Dusan Bezdicka join the club alongside superstar striker Zijad Handzic. These signings moved them closer to Dinamo and well-clear of third-best Hajduk.
